January 23, 2024 (Honolulu, HI) – From November 18-22, 2024, health leaders from across the Pacific convened in Pohnpei, FSM, for the 75th PIHOA Executive Board Meeting (EBM). The event brought together USAPI health directors, partners, and stakeholders to discuss critical regional health challenges, foster collaboration, and pave the way toward stronger and more resilient public health systems. Participants shared success stories, innovative strategies, and discussed region-specific health policies to address the needs of Pacific Island communities. The meeting also emphasized the importance of partnership and collaboration in achieving sustainable health outcomes. Key topics discussed included strengthening health workforce development, tackling non-communicable diseases (NCDs), enhancing communicable disease surveillance and response, and climate and health: preparing for the challenges ahead.
