March 18, 2025 (Honolulu, Hawaiʻi) Yesterday, 25 PPHFP fellows and 18 host site supervisors had an inspiring visit to the Waianae Coast Comprehensive Health Center, where they explored innovative community health initiatives blending traditional Pacific healing with modern medicine. As we officially begin the PPHFP Summit in Honolulu, we’re looking forward to engaging discussions on strengthening public health leadership across the US-Affiliated Pacific Islands. Over the next few days, we’ll cover topics such as:

Here’s a glimpse of what’s ahead: Public Health Leadership & Mentorship – Exploring essential skills for leadership in public health, including mentorship training for host site supervisors.  Fellow Presentations & Regional Public Health Insights – Fellows from across the Pacific, including Palau, Chuuk, Guam, American Samoa, RMI, Pohnpei, Kosrae, and Yap, will present their fieldwork and research. Vector-Borne Diseases in the Pacific – Learning from experts about challenges and solutions in controlling mosquito-borne diseases like dengue, Zika, and malaria. Strengthening Public Health Capacity – Discussing innovative strategies to improve healthcare access, disease prevention, and health equity across island communities. Workforce Preparation & Career Readiness – Equipping fellows with the tools they need to transition into public health careers and continue making a lasting impact in their home communities. Recognition & Awards – Honoring outstanding fellows, mentors, and site supervisors who have made significant contributions to the program.

Stay tuned as we celebrate our PPHFP Fellows and their incredible work in the field!
