April 15, 2025 (Nadi, Fiji) – On April 3, 2025, Dr. Gillian Dunn, PIHOA Regional Health Information Systems & Health Security Coordinator, and Dr. Limb Hapairai, PIHOA Regional Medical Entomologist, joined Pacific health leaders in Nadi, Fiji for the 27th Pacific Public Health Surveillance Network (PPHSN) Coordinating Body meeting, followed closely after the PPHSN Strategic Framework Planning workshop, which took place from March 31 to April 2.
The gathering followed three days of strategic planning sessions focused on shaping the future direction of the PPHSN. A key milestone from the meetings was the official welcoming of the Pacific Vector Network (PVN) as the 7th service of the PPHSN, pending final approvals. This development marks a significant step forward in strengthening regional efforts to monitor and respond to vector-borne diseases.
Additional discussions included:

The upcoming Regional PPHSN Meeting in July 2025 will continue these critical discussions and present the finalized strategic plan to member countries and partners.
PIHOA remains committed to supporting regional health security and cross-sector collaboration to build stronger, more resilient health systems across the Pacific.
Thank you to the Pacific Community (SPC) and key partners including AFD, the European Union, the U.S. Department of State, and DFAT for making this collaboration possible.
